Northeast Florida’s coolest and ever-growing DIY music fest returns to to Historic 5 Points this weekend for three days of cool sounds and distinctive programming. More than 40 national and local artists will take the stage at multiple venues lining Park Street, including Root Down, Rain Dogs, Alewife, and Hoptinger. The festival-runners have booked a heavy lineup of headliners–New York noise-rockers A Place To Bury Strangers, Portland garage band The Shivas and fellow Stumptown standouts, the cumbia-propelled Sávila, as well as New York via Leeds singer-songwriter Harkin, enigmatic Brooklyn-based artist Lady Lamb, and Florida faves Surfer Blood, to name a few.

Single day tix are $30 and $60 gets you three days of music (a good deal, to be sure!).

That’s the short of it. But there’s much more to Winterland. Let this FAQ be your Winterland primer.

WTF is Winterland?
Founded three years ago by Jax-native Glenn Van Dyke (Boytoy) and transplant Lena Simon (La Luz), Winterland is truly a DIY festival, bootstrapped and executed by a small group of folks dedicated to bringing cool s*** to Northeast Florida. Read our profile of Van Dyke and Simon from last year, here.

Who is performing?
This lineup is bananas! The out-of-town headliners alone would stop the press virtually anywhere in America. Add in the three dozen or so local acts set to play over the course of three days in the heart of Jacksonville’s cultural epicenter–including Cherry SpringerDarkhorse Saloon, Bebe Deluxe, Yellow Steve, Faze Wave, Animal Clinic, Mr. Al Pete, and more–well, Winterland III may be the coolest thing happening all year in Northeast Florida (and it’ll only be February!).

Is it just a music festival?
No. Unless you just want it to be. Then, yes! But truly, there is much more to Winterland–surf and skate films, panel discussions, visual art installations, and more than 90 local makers and vendors lining Park St. (which will be closed to auto traffic for the weekend). It’s a celebration of our distinctive and vibrant scene!

What do tickets get me?
You do not need a ticket to cruise Park St. and indulge in the vendor market, art installations, etcetera. But to fill your earholes with cool sounds at any of the Winterland venues–Root Down, Rain Dogs., Hoptinger, Alewife–you will need a single day or weekend pass.

OK. Sold! How do I buy tickets?
Wise choice! You’re not going to want to miss this. CLICK HERE for tix!
