Northeast Florida surfer Trenton Phillips is one of our region’s most multiplex dudes. In the water, you’re likely to find “Tarpits” riding all manner of craft, but most certainly standing out on a longboard. And his creative dance is not confined to the ocean; Phillips’s spontaneity translates well to four-wheeled crafts, Metal sonics, and even print media (his name appears on this mag’s masthead as its resident skate columnist).

The thread that ties all these multifarious pursuits: A joyous, devil-may-care approach that’s fun to watch and quite infectious.

Tarpits is featured in a new edit from cool surf brand Dark Seas. Alongside fellow team riders Joe Kisling and Nixon Broders, Phillips dodges spongers, executes wacky and technical flip tricks, surfs forwards and backwards, and generally acts a fool. It’s a joyous 180-or-so seconds of one of our area’s most watchable surfers, and certainly worthy of your eyeballs.
