We can’t get enough of local hip-hop collective L.O.V.E. Culture. We profiled the group earlier this summer. They tore down the packed house at our Void on Vinyl Release Party at Nighthawks. And we’re asking ’em to do it again in September at Bruval at the Seawalk Pavilion.

And just when we thought the well would run dry, and our unfettered love would have to wait for the full band’s next release, Che drops a video for the hot new track SELFish, the first release from an upcoming solo project of the same name.

“A person’s essential being that distinguishes them from others, especially considered as the object of introspection or reflexive action,” reads the Dictionary-cribbed definition of “self” Che attaches to the video, which finds the singer and MC shifting in tone and tenor from sultry, reflective R&B to more up-tempo fare before closing the song with an atmospheric final minute-plus.

Like their superhero brethren, The Justice League, each member of the League of Vibrant Energies has his or her own powers. Count devastating vocals, formidable wordplay, and unique song structure among the gadgets in Che’s utility belt.
