Oh, the new normal. It seems the coronavirus pandemic has turned us all into binge-watching, toilet-paper hoarding, frozen dinner scarfing shut-ins. To be sure, it’s for the best. Stay home, stay safe, stay strong, etcetera.

Still, we can’t wait until we can see our friends at WJCT’s First Coast Connect again. Host Melissa Ross has lent a calm and clear voice to local coverage of the pandemic. We’d love to give her a high-five. This morning, though, we settled for a phone interview.

And despite the open-ended economic shutdown, there was much to discuss. Void EIC Matt Shaw talked Void’s latest all-local vinyl compilation (available for purchase soon!), our roundup of local livestream concerts (an initiative we hope helps Jax musicians avoid competing with John Legend–God, he’s good!), and a new artist relief funding campaign we’re launching to help support Duval musicians, visual artists, and performers weather the shutdown.
