Though we had a nice run of swell here in Northeast Florida, we’ve got our friends and others affected by Florence on our minds, as Flo brought mega flooding, downpours, and tornadoes along her charge inland to much of coastal Carolina.

Relatedly, big shout out to #lanethelegend for facing down Florence. Pittman, with the leftovers from his GoFundMe, went back up north and delivered relief supplies to parts of the Carolinas. Florence is now tailing off into the Atlantic, but a piece of the storm is being sucked back around by the wind sheer. Crazier things have happened, but we have some notable Invests 97, 98, and 99Ls to keep our eyes peeled to in the Greater Atlantic and Caribbean.

A big blip on the radar is pouring off of Africa as we speak and already looks to be taking shape. The good things is there’s loads of activity in the ocean, and with a long, long reaching low pressure system stretching all the way up into the northeast we are going to get a nice little late summer nor’easter to keep us busy until further development. We can expect building windswell/groundswell Saturday all the way into next week with bigger surf on tap towards the middle of the week. Waist to stomach high surf this weekend, with waist to chest high surf showing up into Tuesday. If you’re looking to score some bigger surf head down past the Cape, where a score is certainly in the realm of possibility.
