Surely I can’t be the only one who used to frequent The Grape when it was open at St. John’s Town Center. I loved the idea of a chic wine and tapas place in the thick of Jacksonville’s shopping mecca. The only problem with The Grape is that it failed to meet expectations. It was overpriced, the portions were small, the seating was uncomfortable, and it just tried entirely too hard to be something it wasn’t. Needless to say, I wasn’t exactly shocked when I found out it was closing nearly two years ago.
That’s where Ovinte comes in, and it’s about damn time. Ovinte is everything that The Grape wishes it could have been, a chic, fun, and incredibly delicious place.
