While we were well aware that the UNF Surf Team was tops on the Right Coast (they’ve won five consecutive National Scholastic Surfing Association’s East Coast Championships), this week, in medium-sized, quality surf in Southern California, the Osprey’s surf squad put an exclamation point on that fact, taking second place overall at the NSSA Nationals comp. The group of coeds from North Florida was the only EC team to finish in the top-10, and they narrowly lost out to Cal State-San Marcos.

Consistent Jax Pier standouts Hunter Roland and Charlie Current finished second and fourth in the Men’s Shortboard final, while Avery Aydolette made it into the Final on the Women’s side. Local log-master Jon Jon Kaidy capped off his collegiate surf career with a third place finish in the Men’s Longboard finals.

Big congrats, kiddos! Now get to class and leave some waves for the rest of us.
