A trip to Sweet Pete’s is a guaranteed sensory overload, with an infinite selection of sweets to taste, smell and admire. The all-natural confectionery company offers an assortment of treats ranging from classic hard candies to gummies and chocolate rocks. But you can’t leave without having one or two (or a handful) of their sea-salt caramels and peanut butter meltaways. They even host a variety of candy-making classes and special holiday events. The renovated Victorian home, decked out in candy colored trim and a lollipop sign, has quickly become a fixture in the Springfield neighborhood.
Now, the iconic local brand is expanding into the heart of downtown Jacksonville. Sweet Pete’s will soon occupy the former Seminole Club, a 23,000-square-foot space on Hogan St. along with two other tenants. Crumbs Bake Shop and Dessert Bar, and a full-service restaurant called Candy Apple will occupy the other floors of the three-level building. In addition, a new event and education center will allow up to 500 guests for birthday parties, classes and other special happenings. With the new location expecting to open this November, the future is looking rather sweet.
