Through the combination of surfing, musicians, and phenomenal travel destinations, east coast locals are looking to change the way we view surfing videos. Slow Down the Pace for the Human Race is a project put together by the creative thoughts of Atlantic Beach native, Luke Thorpe, who has been making surf films for more than 10 years. The idea behind this project is to bring professional surfers and musicians together to travel to some of the hottest surf spots around the world and create films that will coincide with soundtracks filmed 100 percent on location. This creative concept will give viewers insight into what is happening behind the scenes. The fact that both surfing and music will be recorded on the same trip is what separates this project from others. With local surfers on board, including Asher Nolan, Cody Thompson, and Pete Mendia, the talent is sure to not disappoint.

To make this idea a reality, Thorpe and his team are looking for the financial backing from anyone looking to join the cause. Through the use of, the team is accepting pledges until January 26 at 10:32 p.m., by which they hope to achieve their goal of $36,000. Anyone who backs up the cause will receive rewards, and one lucky supporter will even have the opportunity to travel with the crew for the duration of the trip. Most of the financial support will go towards covering the travel costs, as the team will determine their destinations by changes of seasons and swells. This in turn makes it hard to plan ahead, and last-minute tickets have a tendency to get quite pricey.

Ultimately, Thorpe and his crew are hoping to give the surfers and musicians the freedom to make something creative and truly beautiful, all while doing it alongside viewers and supporters.
