After stumbling around the Internet, I chanced upon a short film titled “The Record Breaker” that highlighted the life of a man named Ashrita Furman who currently holds a wopping 350 Guinness World Records, also making him the man who holds the most world records. The video highlights several elements of this extraordinary individual’s life starting from his young childhood obsession with the Guinness World Record books, his decision to drop out of school, and even shows Furman breaking a few world records. The focus of the video follows Furman as he trains to set a new record for climbing Machu Picchu on stilts.
The short film was directed by Brian McGinn, based in LA, who has also directed several other films such as content for the comedy website Funny or Die, and “American Teacher”, which was narrated by Matt Damon. “The Record Breaker” was recently the winner of the Vimeo Audience Award at the 2013 Full Frame Documentary Film Festival and Jury Prizes at the 2012 Palm Springs International ShortsFest and the 2013 New Orleans Film Festival.
