Surfline’s founder, president and chief forecaster, Sean Collins, sadly passed away Monday, December 26th at age 59. Collins suffered a heart attack while playing tennis in Orange County and passed away shortly after.
Collins was perhaps best known for his accomplishments in surf science and forecasting. In 1999 Surfer Magazine named him one of the “25 Most Influential Surfers of the Century”, then inducted into the Surfer’s Hall of Fame in 2008.
Collin’s sudden death has certainly shook the surf community and he will truly be missed and remembered by all.
