A Japanese company has created a pulse laser that requires no screen or surface to project an image upon. The display currently cannot create detailed images, such as a TV screen, but is a remarkable leap forward in technology.

Aerial Burton, the company behind the device, said the machine projects a 3D image into the air, using a pulse laser that ionizes air molecules. It can hit certain points and change in real-time. The resolution has not yet been maximized, but the company hopes it can help people in emergency situations, by directing them were to go and even showing them where emergency supplies may be.

So, could this technology lead to a more realistic Tupac or ODB hologram? One can only hope …
