Mr. 305 himself, aka Pitbull, is soon going to be the new face of Florida tourism. On Tuesday, September 1, the Miami-based rapper was announced as the official tourism ambassador for Florida.

“Pitbull is certainly ‘Mr. Worldwide,’ but he’s also a native Floridian with a true passion for the Sunshine State,” said Paul Phipps, chief marketing officer for Visit Florida. “Aligning our two brands not only allows us to have a Florida ambassador who can help tell the authentic story of the state’s diverse travel experiences, but provides us a platform to reach a new generation of travelers through his global fanbase.”

Part of his duties include filming his upcoming video for the single “Sexy Beaches” in Florida, because lyrics like “And the mama is like wow/ And the booty’s like bang, bang, bang/ I don’t bring sand to the beach/ Bring the beach to the sand” just screams come to Florida (*sigh*). He also needs to use and feature Visit Florida’s #LoveFL hashtag on all his video screens at concerts around the world, promote Visit Florida during his New Year’s Eve concert from Miami on Fox, and do a weeklong takeover on the “Elvis Duran and the Morning Show” on iHeart Radio.

Pitbull’s videos have more than 6 billion online views, and he has had No. 1 hits in more than 15 countries. Visit Florida is hoping that Pitbull and his over 100 million social media followers will boost tourism in Florida, although as a Floridian I can say that tourism in Florida is definitely not a problem … but Pitbull is a pretty nice guy, despite what you think about his music.

I like Pitbull as much as any person but my only question for Visit Florida is why not Flo Rida? I mean he likes our state so much he made it his name!
