If you follow club soccer, you will instantly recognize the colors and badge of Boca Juniors, one of the largest and most popular clubs in the world.
The Argentinian team will be traveling to Jacksonville this Saturday, June 27 to play the hometown Armada F.C. in an exhibition match. The game will be held at EverBank Field 8 p.m.
This is the first time in the Armada’s young history that they will take on a team from South America. Boca Juniors is by far the biggest club they have ever taken the field against.
Boca is considered one of the most successful teams in the last 100 years. The club was founded in 1905, and they have won 63 titles. Including six wins in the Copa Libertadores, South America’s top club competition.
Boca will be bringing their cast of stars that include Pablo Osvaldo and Fernando Gago, both players who are known worldwide. Unfortunately, for fans at EverBank on Saturday, Carlos Tevez, who is about to sign with Boca, will probably not sign in time to make the trip to Jacksonville. Tevez is considered one of the top strikers in world football.
Armada F.C. just finished their first spring season in the North American Soccer League. They finished smack dab in the middle of the table in sixth place with a record of three wins, three draws, and four losses. They look to take the next step as a team and compete to win the fall season starting the first weekend of July. A matchup against one of the world’s top teams is a good warmup.
Tickets for Saturday’s game start at only $14.
