Canadian artist Mac DeMarco has rapidly become one of my latest musical obsessions. When he released his last album titled, 2, in June 2012, I overlooked the album but soon realized that was a huge mistake. Flash forward to present day, and DeMarco is just under a month to go before the release of his new album, Salad Days, which is set to be released on April 1. Salad Days is DeMarco’s second full-length studio album under the Captured Tracks’ label.

In early January, DeMarco performed three new songs from his upcoming album including, “Treat Her Better,” “Salad Days” and “Let Her Go,” releasing the first single, “Passing Out Pieces,” soon after. Salad Days is available for pre-order in the iTunes Store and I highly recommend checking out the album. “Passing Out Pieces” is an excellent first-look at the album to come, and the sound is akin to that of the Gorillaz’s Damon Albarn, though DeMarco loathes artist comparisons.
