Few genres of music convey the amount of emotion and energy in the way that funk does. Combining elements of rock, soul, jazz and blues, it’s a sound for the masses that’s likely to appeal to mostly anyone with ears.
If you happen to be one of those aforementioned eared ones, then I insist that you make your way to 1904 Music Hall in Downtown Jax to check out the best modern funk band in the land, Lettuce.
The 9-piece virtuoso ensemble brings an energy to the stage that would give James Brown goose bumps. Drummer Adam Deitch is widely considered one of the best drummers in the music game, and guitarist Eric Krasno is currently playing in Derek Trucks & Susan Tedeschi’s band (*cough* recent Grammy winners), so it’s safe to say these gents are no slouches.
Coupled with a blazing horn section, slap-happy bass and mesmerizing work on the keys & organ, their live performances are definitely a sight to behold.
