There are many opportunities to ring in the new year in Jacksonville.  From raucous parties to classy black tie events, there’s something for every taste.

Downtown, a few options include the Museum of Contemporary Art, the Jacksonville Symphony, River City Brewing Company, the Florida Theatre, 1904 Music Hall and The Landing.

The Contemporaries of the MOCA are hosting 333NYE: Pop!  For four years now, The Contemporaries have been throwing a memorable New Year’s Eve bash in the city. This year’s fete will be bigger than ever. Revel the night away on the dance floor, try your luck gambling, enjoy festive drinks and eats and experience the best ball drop countdown in the city, all at the Museum of Contemporary Art Jacksonville. Ring in the New Year with the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra.  Enjoy a sparkling program of symphonic favorites, along with the spirit-soaring tenor voice of Mike Eldred. Bring in the cheer and ring in the new year at River City Brewing Company with the folks from Enjoy a great view of the fireworks at Midnight.  The party runs from 9 PM to 2 AM, and tickets are $65, which includes an open bar with beer, wine and well liquor until 1:30 AM, light food and appetizers and a champagne toast at midnight.  Entertainment will include a DJ and a prime view of the downtown fireworks.

The Florida Theatre is featuring Greg Allman, JJ Grey and Mofro at 9pm on New Year’s Eve.  Tickets are $84-91, and they are going fast.  See TicketMaster or a reseller like TicketNetwork for tickets.

Want to party like it’s 1999?  This New Year’s Eve, The Fritz returns to 1904 Music Hall for a very special set paying tribute to The Purple One himself, Prince.  We’re expecting these guys to pull out all the stops for this one.  Joining them will be Chroma, S.P.O.R.E., &  The Politix.  Keeping with 1904 tradition there will be 2 stages of music, a champagne toast, balloon drop and all sorts of other surprises in store.  Stay tuned to their facebook page  for more details rolling out until the day of the event.  The 1904 Music Hall is located at 19 Ocean Drive downtown.

The Landing will likely be dominated by football fans, as it’s the night before the Gator Bowl.  Many of the events here will revolve around the upcoming game.  However, there is a party at Mavericks called “The Smokin Aces New Year’s Eve Bash,” and Fionn MacCool’s will feature live music by Something Distant at 9 pm.  Live music by Radio 80 will be playing on the Coca-Cola Riverfront Stage at 6 pm, followed by Sun Jammer at 10:30.  The fireworks spectacular takes place at Midnight on the St Johns River.

Southside offerings include Latitude 30, BlackFinn, SUITE and Whiskey River.

Latitude 30 will offer live music, a DJ and a comedy show.  Included in the $15 cover charge will be live entertainment and a champagne toast.  Sugarbear and Drummer vs DJ starts at 9 pm, showcasing deejay Capone and Chris Poland of fusebox funk.  A comedy show featuring  the “Haitian Sensation,” Jersey, will take place in “Latitude Live,” the 170-seat live performance theater. Tickets are $30, which includes the cover charge.  You can request guaranteed seats reservations for Axis bar tables or luxury bowling lanes by calling (904) 345-2455.

BlackFinn at Town Center is hosting “NYE at The Finn,” offering an appetizer buffet, champagne toast at midnight and party favors. Tickets will be $25 at the door, or you may purchase them in advance at  BlackFinn is in the Town Center at 4840 Big Island Drive.

Suite’s New Year’s Eve Ball is black-tie-optional.  Doors open at 9 p.m.  Advanced tickets are available on Eventbrite for $15.  Special VIP packages start at $30 including passed appetizers and 2 Complimentary Drink Tickets.  SUITE is located in the Town Center at 4880 Big Island Drive.

Ring in the New Year and take a turn on the mechanical bull at Whisky River.  Doors Open at 9 PM with DJ EL.  Limited Advanced Tickets are $15 which includes a glass of Champagne.  For VIP tables contact  Standard dress code applies, and admission after 10:30 pm is not guaranteed.  Whiskey River is right around the corner from SUITE at 4850 Big Island Drive.

At the beach, options range from fancy to frenetic to Freebird: Casa Marina, The Pier Cantina and Freebird Live.

At Casa Marina, the Penthouse will be open from 7:30 to 2 am.  Dinner is at 8 p.m.  The cost is $100 per person plus tax and gratuity (21 and up).  Alcohol is included in the package from 7:30 pm-12 am, switching to a cash bar from 12 am-2 am.  There will be a DJ, champagne toast and balloon drop at midnight.

The Pier Cantina and Sandbar, located at 412 1st St North in Jax Beach, will be offering two dinner sittings on New Year’s Eve: $40 per person at 6:00 pm (Must be finished by 8:45) or $50 per person at 9:00 pm.  The recommend you book now, as they anticipate a full house.  The 3 course meal will include an appetizer, entree and dessert, as well as one glass of champagne.  They will have dancing ,and “a Party Rockin All Night” downstairs.  Downstairs will be open to the public, so if you don’t want dinner, you can still “come dance, drink and party.”

Freebird Live will have live music from Grandpa’s Cough Medicine featuring Mark Scimick and The Corbitt Brothers.  Doors open at 8pm, advance tickets are $10 from Reverb Nation.
