Saturday night at Everbank Field lived up to all expectations and then some. With about 53,000 fans, Jaguars President, Mark Lamping, said, “It was four or five times better than I thought it was going to be.”
The Jags have yet to hit the field for the 2014 season, but Khan’s soccer team kicked us off to a good start. Fulham had a 3-0 victory over major league soccer franchise D.C. United.
After the match, Khan took on a standing ovation as he debuted the video boards. The seven minute video, “Jacksonville in Motion,” showcased Jacksonville’s horizon at sunrise, aerial shots of the beaches and snapshots of everyday life around the city. The video boards had their own commercials and shout outs from a few of Jacksonville’s biggest businessmen and politicians.
After the epic premier of the $63 million renovations, Jaguars head coach, Gus Bradley, proudly welcomed country superstar Carrie Underwood to the stage. Carrie rocked a Jaguars jersey made especially with her name on it. This was her third show in Jacksonville since 2010. She sang 18 songs in about an hour and a half, from her country hits to her pop-rock.
It’s safe to say this year looks promising for what’s to come at Everbank Field, and Saturday night was just the start.
