Void’s annual swimsuit issue is a crowd favorite, especially amongst our male readers – after all, it’s hard not to love an entire magazine full of beautiful North Florida women in bathing suits. But after reviewing our past editions in preparation for the 2014 release, we realized something: amongst all the teeny bikinis and thigh gaps, there wasn’t a sculpted chest in sight.

This year, we decided to change that, so in March our website launched Void’s “Search for the Hottest North Florida Lifeguard” competition. We figured the best place to find hot, tan, chiseled men willing to pose in Speedos was on our own North Florida beaches, and lifeguards seemed like a pretty good place to start. Not only are they paid to tan all day, stay in shape, and save lives, they are also expertly trained in mouth-to-mouth. It doesn’t get much hotter than that.

With hot lifeguards comes hard decisions: how do we choose just one? The search was long and the competition was tough, but we finally narrowed it down to two.

Craziest thing you’ve had to do on the clock

We had to wrangle a pregnant white-tail deer that had come out of the dunes. She was just trying to rest in the surf, but everyone was flipping out and causing her to panic, so we had to rescue her before she had a heart attack.

Most creative pick-up line you’ve heard on the clock

I don’t know what the most creative one has been, but the least creative one I get all the time is: “If I go out and pretend I’m drowning, will you save me?”

Where can we find you when you aren’t saving lives?

I’m on a lifeguard competition team, so when I’m not at work you can find me coaching or training at the pool.

Favorite part about being a lifeguard

I get paid to hang out at the beach in the sun all day and doing what I love, and at the end of the day it is a really rewarding job.

Which beach do you work as a lifeguard?

Jax Beach, the greatest beach there ever was

Who puts on your sunscreen at the hard to reach places?

If my mom’s not available, I can always count on the girls waiting for me at my tower.

Where can we find you when you aren’t saving lives?

At FSU supporting Seminole nation (did I mention we’re national champs?); also the gym, beach and volleyball court

Favorite swimsuit brand

When I’m working I love wearing my old school Toes on the Nose trunks.

Best bathing suit malfunction you’ve ever witnessed

I was riding on the back of the Jax Beach lifeguard truck with my buddy Andrew when a very large lady yelled “hey lifeguards” then proceeded to lift her top and jump up and down. It was horrifying!

What’s your go-to pick-up line when you’re on the clock?

On the clock: “I really like your suit”

Off the clock: “Do you think I’m cute? Do you have a boyfriend? Why aren’t we making out right now?” You’d be surprised how often it works.

Weirdest thing you’ve witnessed on the beach

A guy that was running from the cops jumped off the end of the pier and continued to wait in the water while the cops sat on shore. This lasted about an hour until he swam in and turned himself in.

Best part about the job

The money isn’t bad, I get to work out, sit on the beach and work on my tan while watching hot girls and, in the event I have to save someone, the adrenaline rush is amazing. But, really it’s hanging with the guys and girls I work with.
