The more than 90,000 people who flooded into Metropolitan Park last weekend for the eighth annual Monster Energy Welcome to Rockville were well-received, treated to once-in-a-generation performances by guitar-based bands from five decades of rock n’ roll, including Ozzy Osbourne, Avenged Sevenfold, Stone Temple Pilots and Foo Fighters, who played Jacksonville for the first time in the band’s 23-year career.
An international contingent turned out for the multi-day music fest—the largest crowd recorded in the festival’s eight year history. And on the local tip: prominent Jacksonville metal act Yashira made Northeast Florida proud, performing on the same bill as historically significant rock acts like Queens of the Stone Age and Billy Idol.
