Residents of Jacksonville have always known that our city is a very special place with tons of culture, great music, and creativity flowing longer than the St. Johns River. But recently, Pollstar Magazine ranked the Florida Theatre in downtown Jacksonville as one of the top 100 theatres in the world for 2013.
The Florida Theatre was placed at 89 on the list, which is based on ticket sales worldwide. It’s safe to say Jacksonville is on fire.
“It’s not like we squeaked onto the bottom of the list by a point or two, either, and if you were to discount the theatres with seating capacities much larger than ours, like Caesars Palace for example, we would be much higher on the list,” Kevin Stone, Florida Theatre’s director of programming, said.
Other notable venues on the list include Radio City Music Hall and other venues in big cities such as Nashville, London and Melbourne. With Jacksonville making headlines with events such as One Spark, our NFL team and now being ranked on a worldwide list such as this, it’s just a matter of time before we take over the world…right?
