Typically one of the year’s most anticipated soirees, this year’s Cultural Council of Greater Jacksonville’s annual arts awards honors artists, businesses and community members who demonstrate exceptional skills, capabilities, and passion for arts and culture. With so much uncertainty surrounding when and how we’ll all be able to gather together again, CCGJ has announced that this year’s awards ceremony–which will take place Wednesday, Sept. 2–will be a “hybrid event” integrating “videos and interactive streaming.”
The theme of this year’s Arts Awards is Bridges: Connecting Arts, Business, and Community, which will serve to highlight the interconnectivity between the arts, business, and community as a key to a thriving city. The event will be live-streamed from the Jesse Ball DuPont Center and hosted by Tenikka Hughes, Action News Jax Anchor, and co-hosted by Al Emerick, Founder, ValueMapping. In addition to the award presentations, there will be dynamic performances, appearances by prominent members of the community, an online auction with trips, gift certificates and artwork by local artists and more.
Regardless of presentation, judging by the list of heavy hitting Northeast Florida impact players that make up this year’s nominee class, the 44th Annual Arts Awards will be absolutely be a can’t-miss event. Nominees include longtime friends of the mag and former subjects of Void Mag profiles Geexella, Mr. Al Pete, Shawana Brooks and Roosevelt Watson, Toni Smailagić, Nico, and many more. We at Void are honored to be nominated for the Small Business Award and even more humbled to be included among the full list of nominees.
