It can be hard to stay motivated when trips to the gym start to feel repetitive and boring — but there are more ways to build strength than by lifting weights every night.

Fitness can be found in the most unlikely of places, and stepping outside of your comfort zone can be a great way to avoid a workout rut. There are a growing number of women’s workout classes across the North Florida area that are finding that an upbeat, female dominated workout atmosphere is also breeding grounds for an inspiring and successful fitness regime.

Whether it’s learning to glide on a pole or throwing punches at a new friend, these gym alternatives are upbeat ways to let loose, make friends, and tone all at the same time!

Here are some of our picks for ladies targeted fitness classes around North Florida:

Vertical Fitness Studio

1059 Beach Blvd., Jacksonville Beach

This studio specializes in a sexy workout regime: the art of the pole. If you are looking for a strength-building workout that also boosts your confidence and sensuality, pole dancing may be for you.

Introductory and beginner pole classes teach the basics: tricks, spins, grips and hand position, all while building your core and upper body strength.

Once you have the basics down, there are a number of classes you can take to perfect your techniques. Practicing floor work, mastering heels, and learning chair dancing are all fun conditioning classes that Vertical Fitness Studio also specializes in.

Boxing

Boxing Bunnies

2010 Kings Circle South, Neptune Beach

The Boxing Bunnies of Neptune Beach work out as they kick butt. All fitness and skill levels are welcome at these boxing classes designed especially for women.

Boxing Bunnies won #1 Women’s Workout for the 2013 #1 in the 904 contest, and continues to grow in popularity across Jacksonville. Instructors boast that women do the same pre-workouts that professional boxers do, as each class provides high-intensity training, skill building drills and boxing rounds.

The women-only atmosphere is energetic, supportive and highly motivating, and every bunny gets personal attention during classes to help learn the basics of boxing.
