As much as it was exciting to be tracking a potential tropical depression in late March/early April, the likelihood of it developing was short lived. Though, it was still promising to see some potential development this early in the year. As warm as things have been through spring, we’re already seeing an early summer flow of SW winds sucking up from the Gulf. This doesn’t help our wave-building potential all that much, but it may signal an early flat season as well! The faster we get through the flat season, the quicker we get to a more SE flow and things will start to pop in the Caribbean!

Speaking of popping, we’ve had some fast-moving boomer storms the last couple of days with a fast-moving front coming from the panhandle, and although we had a good run of surf the last week, the offshore winds have filled in quickly and we’ll, unfortunately, be in the flat zone for the next week until we see a small NE pulse that remains to be seen. Since it’s going to be flat this weekend, what a great time to get out to your favorite local surf shop and pick out some cool items to stuff in the Easter baskets for the little or big surfers in your family!
