On this day, skateboarders around the globe will celebrate the pure exhilaration, creativity, and spirit of one of the most influential activities in the world by blowing off all other obligations to go skateboarding. Go Skate Day, presented by Kona Skate Park, will be at Hemming Plaza Downtown from 3pm – 9pm! The event will be featuring a Vans Ramp Jam, an Autoline “real street” best trick contest, an open skate area for all to enjoy, live bands featuring the LifeForms and Penguin Teeth, DJ’s, food trucks, an art show and more! The City of Jacksonville and Keep Jacksonville Beautiful is teaming up with Jacksonville Surf Training, Ocean Minded, and the UNF and First Coast Surfrider Foundation to host a beach cleanup from 1 p.m. – 3 p.m. at 16th Avenue South in Jacksonville Beach. Whoever picks up the most cigarette butts during the cleanup wins a pair of shades from SPY. There will also be prizes awarded from Taco Lu, Angies Subs, and other local businesses!
