March 10 – Somos, Petal and More @ 1904 Music Hall
Performing at 1904 on Thursday, March 10, is Boston-based band Somos. The group, which formed only four years ago, have carved out their own unique style that could be categorized as pop punk, indie or even emo — but you’re better off just checking them out for yourself by visiting their Bandcamp. Performing alongside Somos are Petal, Superweaks and local favorites Detached and A Call For Kylie. Tickets for this one are a mere $10. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the show is set to begin at 7:30.
March 26 – Strand of Oaks @ Hemming Park
Thanks to the folks behind Friends of Hemming Park and Flying Saucer Presents, Strand of Oaks will be coming to Jacksonville to perform a unique concert at Hemming Park. The event, which will take place on Saturday, March 26 at 8 p.m., is the inaugural concert series that Hemming Park plans to host — and if you haven’t heard of Strand of Oaks before, this will surely be a concert you won’t wanna miss. Since the concert is also free, you really have no good excuses to not attend. There will also be food trucks, vendors and even a chance to meet the band that was listed as NPR’s Breakout Artist of 2014.
