After securing the first bid to the NCAA tournament in school history, the Ospreys, being an unknown commodity and coming from the small A-Sun conference, are projected by multiple outlets to be the 16 seed in the NCAA tournament.

Currently, ESPN’s Bracketology has the Ospreys playing Duke in Charlotte. CBS has UNF playing Robert Morris in a play-in game, with the winner facing Kentucky.

Each of these projections could turn out to be totally meaningless, of course, but UNF has a win over Big 10 school Purdue, who may make the tournament, which would only strengthen UNF’s case to be a lower seed. No matter where they go, the Ospreys will be a huge underdog. However, the last two seasons, the winner from the A-Sun has knocked off the lower seeds in giant upsets. FGCU beat Georgetown as a 15 seed, before going on to the sweet sixteen, and Mercer beat Duke as a 14 seed. UNF will have the same opportunity come tourney time.
