A little burst of fall in the middle of September? … why not! As hot and meager (in surf) this summer has been, we will welcome a little cool off and, of course, some chunky waves. As mentioned in the previous forecast, our best bet for surf all season is anything close to home, and thanks to a long lingering front and a dip in the jet-stream, we have our first little nor’easter! We should have ridable waves all week, just pick your spots wisely and time your tides right and you could score some fun little wedges!

The Tropics have not all of the sudden gone quiet though, there is activity everywhere that will make things very interesting over the course of the next week! System 94L is trying to rebuild in the western Gulf (no threat to us though), remnants of Grace are hanging over Jamaica and Cuba, 93L in the Atlantic will fade away but could be paving a trough for the next system coming off Africa, 95L! It’s not over until the fat lady sings, or tries to squeeze into a wetsuit …

Get out there and get some waves! Now is a great time to get into your local surf shops ahead of the crowd for the new lines of fall gear arriving daily. You might even want to scoop up a new topper or spring for the season. There’s loads of stuff on tap to get amped with the surf for the coming week. Jags vs Fins game at the Bank and Bruval on Saturday! Get in the action for the premier craft beer fest in JAX!

Also, don’t forget about your chance to win $5,000. Take advantage of this upcoming swell and take some really awesome pictures. Visit www.saltlifefoodshack.com/big-wave-challenge for more details.
