Calling all BMX Street and Skate Street locals: Red Bull, in partnership with ESPN, has created the first global action sport video contest centered on the Los Angeles X-Games. The X-Games are being hosted in Los Angeles from August 1st-4th.

Red Bull Phenom is hosting the video contest, and is currently accepting BMX Street and Skate Street videos from now until July 5th. Videos should be sixty seconds in length, and should showcase the participant’s raw talent and originality. The Skate Street videos will be judged by skate pioneer Steve Caballero, and BMX pioneer Mike Escamillia will judge the BMX Street videos.

Participants must be between ages 15-19, and must be “amateur status” in their respective disciplines. Participants under the age of 18 must have their parents sign a consent form in order to enter the contest.

Video submissions are encouraged to have very little editing. The Judges want to see uncut footage of tricks; they are looking for skill, style, and originality, as well as the ability to perform multiple tricks in one ride. Video submissions should first be uploaded to YouTube and titled “Red Bull Phenom”. Then, videos should be registered directly to the contest here. Also, video submissions featuring music should select songs from this site; it features free songs available for download.

Judges will choose three video finalists from each category. These finalists will be contacted directly, and announced on Red Bull’s Phenom website on July 12th. Finalists are then flown out to Los Angeles for the finale. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity, as all travel costs, as well as food and accommodations, are paid for!

Three finalists chosen from an AM Series will be competing against video finalists as well; there will be a total of six finalists per category at the Los Angeles X-Games.

The finale for Skate Street is Friday, August 2nd from 3-3:30 p.m., and the finale for BMX Street is Saturday, August 3rd from 5:30-6 p.m. The winner from each of these finales will receive a profile video produced by Red Bull, as well as bragging rights.

This contest is a great way for North Florida to show off our local BMX street and Skate Street talent! Additional information, as well as registered video submissions, can be found on the contest site.
