We’ve been watching it for days. Winter Storm Riley tore through the northeast and left some serious damage and now is churning out in the Atlantic like a chilly hurricane. Said to be one of the biggest winter swells since 1991, a perfect storm, and Cape Fear type storm. As for us it’s a little chilly, but the swell is building, and we are setting up for a pumping swell this week! Right when you think spring has sprung permanently Jack Frost shows us he’s not quite done yet! Down south past the Cape it will be a little warmer and a bit bigger, and if you have the time to drop everything and head to your Caribbean secret spot it should be BIG! On the home front we’re going to get all we can handle and at least we have the setup to sustain a big nor’easter. Be mindful as you suit up and charge this week as we’re still in a full moon phase and will have a double punch of extra tide and swell coming in so account for your times and tides, and be careful of big rips on the outgoing tides! Right now we have building waist to chest plus sets, and some manageable winds. Swell build over night to the head high to double over head conditions so you better put your big boy/girl pants on and bust on the charging board and wax it up! Swell tapers off into Thursday daily but the winds will get better as the swell drops. Water temps have ticked back down a bit from this front but should be pretty decent all week! Time to charge!
