What a wild change of events over the last few days! That is par or the course this time of year. We’ll go from micro-waves to overhead and back again in a matter of 48 hours, but for the rest of the week and beyond, all models are looking solid. There is a mega system that stretches from the Gulf Coast all the way through the Great Lakes and into the Mid-West. This system has been bringing some severe weather across the region, but it’s also bringing a strong flux of windswell/groundswell with it!
Windswells set up nicely for our region, and we have some of the best setups on the Right Coast to handle these types of swells. As this system moves through the East Coast over the course of the week, we will see some chunky conditions ranging in the waist-to-chest-plus height. Looking forward to the beginning of next week once the front pushes into the ocean, we could get a double dose of Nor’easter with a touch of groundswell as the winds straighten out a bit.
Get to your local surf shops now to gear up, or dust off the wetsuits now, water temps have dropped significantly this last week, and they will continue to drop throughout the season. After your sessions tomorrow make sure to get down to the “Bank” to cheer on our home team as the “Gold Rush” will commence into the evening until kickoff with beerfest, live music and the unveiling of the new uniforms. GO JAGS!!!
