Happy Easter Weekend! We are in for a deja vu this holiday weekend that mirrors an almost identical weather pattern as last weekend … with a twist. Last weekend’s fronts did send us some fun little micro waves, and according to most weather people, they were calling for torrential downpours that made us alter all of our outdoor activities until we woke up the next morning to sunny skies and pleasant weather! Well, we’re starting out much the same going into this weekend, there will be some rains here and there, but these systems that have been swinging in from the Gulf are merging with systems from the Midwest and dispersing once they get to the First Coast. The latitude and movement of these new fronts will bring us a welcomed little burst of a building wind/ground suck-up south swell towards Easter Sunday and throughout next week! Then, a late late seasonal nor’easter will move in towards next weekend for more fun surf conditions further out!

So, what’s the twist? The big turn of events is an unseasonably large dip coming from the Great Lakes all the way into the south that is causing a trough in the region. Although it will be pretty nice down here, it stirs up all of these fast and furious thunder storms that come steam rolling through, but at least we’re not getting snow in early April like they will have up north! Spring is always a little whacky in Northeast Florida, and as crazy as this El Nino season has been, this is no surprise. The great part about it is, we will have surf all weekend and throughout next week! Looking for those last-minute Easter basket stuffers? Get out to your local surf shops this weekend and take advantage of all of the great sales going on because the water temps are heating up, and it’s a great time to gear up for spring with a new topper, pair of baggies or that new wahine bikini!
