Summer has officially started! Well… at least according to those silly almanacs, but it has been summer here since May and usually stretches into October-ish. Since summer has officially begun now, new models are being run buy all of the weather experts, and albeit they’ll probably have more predictions, recent anomalies have trended to downgrade the 2018 Hurricane Season to 11 storms now. Warming waters in the Pacific and cooler than normal areas abroad in the Atlantic have some experts scratching their heads now, and after a quick start in late May our hopes were high for another active season. Like I always say, the weatherman, or woman, is the only person that can be right 20% of the time and still keep their jobs! Weather and Mother Nature are the ultimate unpredictable, and history shows us that even during quiet hurricane seasons, there’s always a few sleeping giants that will awaken! Anyone remember Hurricane Andrew in the 90s? The season will continue to heat up, and it’s hot hot hot outside, so all we can do is keep our eyes peeled to the south and east until we reach the peak month later in the summer! Small summertime surf camp waves continue through the last week and into the next. Although we have some systems moving off the Mid-Atlantic later next week, we might see a little wind bump from the north but nothing major.. Now’s the time to summerize your quiver if you hadn’t already! A log, sup, or fish can be a good investment to get you through the dog days and keep you in the lineup at the right times and tides to catch a few! Hang in there, we’ll get through the flat season and into some good surf eventually!
