For those of you living in a small wave world, I would like to take this moment to introduce you to an annual big wave photo/video contest held by Salt Life Food Shack. A total of $8,000 is up for grabs for photo and video submissions taken during the hurricane season each year, and all submissions must be taken in Florida — either in the Gulf or the Atlantic. But hurry up bros and chicas, as the contest is winding down to the final days.

This year, the Salt Life Food Shack Big Wave Challenge is coming to a close November 1, 2016, which gives you just 11 days to register and turn in your photos or videos.

The categories are as follows:

  1. Big Wave Photo (judges’ pick)
  2. Best Video (judges’ pick)
  3. Fan Favorite (voting ends Nov. 7)

So, who won this thing last year? Who are the people judging? What photos and videos have already been submitted so far?

Go to http://saltlifefoodshack.com/big-wave-challenge/ for more info regarding these and any other questions you may have. You can find a complete list of rules HERE. But first, let me show you some of the photos that you’ll be up against this year:

Instead of sending emails to the winners, which would be super lame, they’re throwing a big ass party, just like they always have. Salt Life Food Shack will be hosting a celebration of all the participants. It’s all going down on Saturday, November 12, 2016 at 6 p.m., with the winners being announced by 8. If you’re a contestant, you should probably know that you’ll need to actually be present to win — so no avatars, robot clones, cardboard cut outs and no Facetiming or Skyping in. Only your real-life-self will be allowed.

You can visit their site now and check out the submissions, as well as voting for your favorite captures. If this is the first time you’ve heard about it but you still want to enter, submit your own photos and videos before it’s too late! Don’t be shy. Seriously, what do you have to lose?
