Void’s “Photo of the Month,” is back for month five with two more beautiful photos. This month, we feature local Art Institute student Mary Futch, who submitted the following photos for our monthly contest. These photos focus on old doors and the wonder they hold. Exploring the concept of who might’ve passed through them and their unique history. Discover how she created her works below. Submit your own for next month’s section!

Photo Title: Old Ad Door

Process:  Art Photography

Camera:  Canon Rebel T2i

Location:  Downtown Fernandina Beach, FL

Artist’s Statement:  I look at doors, particularly old doors, and wonder about the history they hold.  Who has walked through those doors?  What have they heard?  What have they seen?  Each door, like the building in which it resides, is also in itself a piece of history and tells something about the person who chose it.  I am fascinated by doors and the stories they have to tell.
