Palcohol, a powdered form of alcohol, which gets added to water, is going through its final steps and may be available for purchase this summer.
The U.S. Alcohol and Tobacco Trade Bureau has approved four flavors, V (vodka), R (rum), Cosmo and Lemon Drop. Their website www.palcohol.com mentions and addresses various subjects of controversy of the powdered substance. Many states are moving forward with efforts to ban it, despite its recent approval. Maryland’s alcohol industry already voluntary banned it. Concerns about it being easily accessible to underage drinkers are among some of the reasons. People snorting it, sneaking it to places or spiking drinks are other things that come into question.
“Palcohol is a boon to outdoors enthusiasts such as campers, hikers and others who wanted to enjoy adult beverages responsibly without having the undue burden of carrying heavy bottles of liquid,” the company said. It can even be sprinkled on food.
We’ll find out in the coming months if these concerns are valid, or if it will be treated like normal alcohol. We’re just wondering how it’ll taste.
