James Keogh, known by his stage name as Vance Joy, is an Australian alt-rock musician. Keogh’s debut EP titled, God Loves You When You’re Dancing, was released in March 2013 under the label Liberation Music. The album was well-received by most in the UK and Australia, but went largely unnoticed in the US.

His song “Riptide,” from the debut album, was voted number 1 on the 2013 Triple J Hottest 100. The song was written and produced by Keogh alongside fellow drummer Edwin White and John Castle. The song is a sort of coming of age love story, and is so catchy I’ve had it stuck in my head for a few days now. Plus, who doesn’t love some ukulele? “Riptide” features strong lyrics, production and vocals. The video, directed by Dimitri Basil, was released about a year ago. Watch it below.
