Wayne Memmer, member of the punk group Vacation, recently left the band to begin his solo project titled No Valley, and released his first album last week. The 9-track record, titled, Over Time Scattered, is a little bit everywhere in terms of musical style, and ranges from simple, slow acoustic songs to twitchy garage-pop. No Valley’s cover of The Clash’s “Charlie Don’t Surf” is the song that instantly stuck out to me, and is a fresh take on a classic rock song. The song, which takes its name from the famous scene in the 1979 movie Apocalypse Now, is a fun, simple track. Listen to “Charlie Don’t Surf” and watch the famous movie clip below.
