We’ve had another fun run of surf so far this week, and we should have some lingering groundswell/windswell mix through the rest of the week. It won’t be one of our famous Halloween swells, but it won’t be flat either! After multiple flybys, we’ve gotten to reclaim our Jax Beach breaks and other breaks have been reporting some fun surf as well. We have a big moon tide phase this week, so time your tides just right and catch the swells at their peaks of the fuller tidal pushes!

After facing the wrath of Patricia across Mexico, her remnants are left tailing as she dissipated over land, only bringing minor effects to our region of the Gulf coast. Still, she was a force of nature to be reckoned with, as one of the largest storms ever recorded in any ocean in history. The days of hurricane season 2015 are winding down, and the tropics have gone quiet. It’s been a down year overall, but at least we had one dose of epic surf to talk about.

Now we focus our attention more to the north, and it’s time to dust off the winter gear. There is currently a big system moving across the Great Lakes that looks to be taking a northeast track, but the isobars are tight, and we have another Mid-Atlantic low continuing to help steer some swell our way until it tapers off into the weekend. We’ll be back online for a weekend update as we await the World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party and Halloween!

It’s not over ’til the fat lady sings! There is still time to make your submissions for the biggest documented wave of the season. Visit www.saltlifefoodshack.com/big-wave-challenge for more details.
