We’re back in action after a trip to score down in Costa! Looks like we had a fun little burst of swell while I was gone, but it is back to reality in Flatsonville during the beginnings of flat season … Not to rub in in, but the waves were macking in Central America — and what better time of year to plan a trip down there to score some early wet season swells while we linger in the doldrums here. Fires blazing from the swamps in Georgia down through various areas of Florida, hot southwesterly flow from the Gulf bringing sooty air our way and the beach has gone Lago Atlantico on us. Yet, we may see a little reprieve from the smog later in the weekend with some northeast winds coming in, just not much of any swell to back it up. Maybe a good flat distraction for Mother’s Day and TPC action!

Some new predictions are in for the 2017 hurricane season, which is only a few weeks away at this point, and there is already a storm firing off in the Pacific! The new models project a more average season ahead, which is not what we all want to hear, but they are usually never spot-on in their predictions. With some extra time away from the surf, it’s time to get into your local surf shops for those great last-minute Mother’s Days gift ideas! Maybe a new pair of flops or shades, or for the surfing mom, maybe a new shred sled for the summer that mom would be stoked on! Hang in there, spring isn’t over yet, and have faith in Mother Nature, she’ll turn around for us in due time! Until then, book your tickets, it’s going off down there!
