All of the prognostications about the Atlantic Hurricane Season 2018 have been pretty spot on, to date. We’ve had 14 named storms, a few of theme severe. We’ve dodged some bullets once again in North Florida; unfortunately our friends and neighbors in the Carolinas and on our opposite coast weren’t so fortunate. Of course, we’re sending them good vibes and friends of Void Mag and West Florida native Stu Brown are going above and beyond to help those effected by the storms (check out Brown’s FB fundraising page for Panama City Beach).

In the meantime, the tropics have gone quiet for now, but there might be another flare up lurking in the Gulf again later into the week. We’re finally beginning to turn the corner into fall and we’re already getting a little blow of some fall nor’easter conditions. The water is still hot, so we’re not in the clear yet from the tropics, but we won’t turn down more swell, will we? With the remnants of Michael fading out to sea, and long stretching low sweeping the East Coast, and another large front from the north swinging in from Canada is creating a nice little windswell to keep us busy through the beginning of the week. A spike in surf late Sunday into Monday, a little lull for a few days, then the next Main Event is on tap for middle to late next week with some head high plus surf. Now is the time to get into your local surf shops to get a new rubber suit for the season because once the when temps start to drop they will begin to fly off the shelves. Keep your eyes on the forecast for the upcoming 35th Annual Wavemasters, set to kickoff next weekend, Oct. 27-28 at Jax Pier. Wax ’em up and get out there and enjoy the last few weekends of daylight savings.
