‘Tis the season to go surfing! Hope everyone has had a great holiday season of good times with family and friends and fun surf. We’ve been on a solid run of non-flatness all month, and the breaks are not going to be pumped too hard this week, as the remnants of Winter Storm Goliath are going to be pushing through towards New Year’s weekend, bringing us another solid push of swell. In its path there have been devastating floods throughout the Midwest regions, so send some good vibes, thoughts and prayers to all of the families affected by this storm.

Our weather pattern has been epic lately, but after this front pushes through, we are going to be back to reality and our next little wintery blast is coming. We hope you’ve had some time to break in your new Christmas wetsuit, and if you haven’t, you’ll get your chance come this weekend. Speaking of new wetsuits, if you were naughty this year and Santa didn’t bring you one, now is the time to take advantage of the after-Christmas sales at all of your favorite local surf shops.

The waves should be holding in the waist-plus ranges throughout the week, and coming out of this last full-moon phase, the tides should become more manageable. We’ll see a true spike in the swell come late Saturday through Monday, and we’ll be back online to wish everyone a Happy New Year on Friday to see how the swell is progressing. Be safe out there this New Year’s Eve, have a DD, get a cab, or call your friendly neighborhood Uber driver to get home safely after the parties. You don’t want to end up in the clink and miss the surf on the way!
