What a year of surf 2018 has been. We kicked off the year with some great winter swells, and into spring with an early start to what was a better than average Hurricane Season. Then right into fun fall/winter surf to end the year on a high note.

Last week, after a pre-Christmas flat spell, we were gifted a fine few days of fun winter surf, and with more background swell (plus fog!) hanging ’round, we’ll be surfing into the new year.

To more pressing issues: What’s ahead? After the jet stream took a hook on us a week ago–bringing us a chilly front–a ton of moisture has been brewing up in the Gulf, changing the stream to level out just above our latitude and pushing all of the mid-western fronts right across our swell windows. We have another long stretched-out low up the Right Coast, which will likely bring some (albeit Arctic) surf to the Northeast, and just beyond our window the elephants will be marching by, so if you have time for a last-gas holiday vacay, now would be the time to book a quick strike mission to the Caribbean because anything past the Cape or out in the islands could be firing come Friday.

On the home front we’ll have some fun waist to stomach high surf all week with some warmer, (again, foggy) conditions. So wax up the new Xmas shred stick and throw on the new wetty, and get on it! Happy New Year!
