After the Heat’s monumental loss against the San Antonio Spurs this season, there is some major movement taking place within the Heat.
Last season when Lebron James, Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade took on the Spurs, they blew them out of the water with their coordination and teamwork. This year, however, as the Spurs came back, determined to take home the championship, they showed that they were indeed a stronger team than before, and ultimately took home their greatest win in Game 5. James left to go on vacation with his family after The Finals to get his mind and heart together and to decide what his next move would be. If there is any player that is highly sought after, it’s James, and after his announcement to become a free agent on July 1, teams are willing to do anything to get him on their roster.
In a statement made last week, James said, “Being able to have flexibility as a professional, anyone, that’s what we all would like. That’s in any sport, for a football player, a baseball player, a basketball player, to have flexibility and be able to control your future or your present. I have a position to be able to do that. … There’s a lot of times that you’re not in control of your future as a professional.”
It has been made clear the reason for James becoming a free agent isn’t entirely due to the fact that his team lost a championship, but it does play a factor. James is a strong player and knows that just having Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade to support him aren’t enough, he needs an entire team. This is why the Heat is currently looking at Connecticut’s Shabazz Napier in an effort to show James he should stay with the team this upcoming season.
On their recent family vacation, his wife posted a picture on Instagram of their hometown Akron, Ohio, which caused a stir among James’ followers who believed he would be making a move back to the Cleveland Cavaliers. This was, of course, a false alarm, and she was simply showing her excitement of being back home. Teams such as the Clippers, the Lakers and the Cavaliers are having a serious look at this great player. James has not yet said he is leaving the Heat, but rather he just wants to keep his options open should a better opportunity present itself.
