This past weekend, hundreds of skateboarders gathered at Kona Skate Park for the 7th Annual Florida Bowlriders Cup Pro/Am. It’s the largest event of its kind on the east coast and attracted riders from as far away as California, Ohio, Oregon and New Jersey. Skaters competed for ten-thousand dollars in prize money and the honor of being crowned the 2013 Bowlriders Cup Champion. Along with the competition itself, Kona hosted over one-hundred campers that made a pilgrimage to witness some of the best skateboarders in the world. Locals measured up to the diverse group of talent that traveled in from all across the USA and were able to hold their own in the standings. The event consisted of two venues, one being Kona Skate Park and the other a private back yard facility only minutes away. It was grassroots skateboarding at its best. Words wouldn’t do any justice to the good times, great vibes and unbelievable show that these talented skateboarders put on. It was a “one of a kind” experience for competitors, friends and families.
Congratulations to Jacksonville locals that placed in the events that spanned across three days.
