If you know anything about punks, you likely wouldn’t count on them to commit to anything; well, other than flippancy, rowdiness, and a mean anti-authoritarian streak. Not so for local musician-videographer-punk impresario, Lang Sheppard. The drummer and co-vocalist of raucous local skate punks, The Concrete Criminals and founder of Stunt Dog Productions, Sheppard’s been organizing his rock n’ roll showcase, Once a Month Punk, for decades now, starting in the early 2000s on Oahu’s north shore.

OAMP had a run of success (each months for several months, as the name suggests) at the former Blue Water Grill in Jax Beach, as well as the now-defunct The Loft on 1st Street, but has been on hiatus since those venues closed or changed ownership.

Never fear, punkers! OAMP returns to Jax Beach tonight with a showcase at Ruby Beach Brewing, featuring Punch Rockers Cardinal Slinky, Gainesville’s Piss Test, and the band with the best beards in all of local music SnOre.
