It’s that time of year again. Get the bird, mash the potatoes, avoid Aunt Fran and her personal questions and best of all, bust out the alcohol. These six shots are inspired by classic Thanksgiving deserts but with a twist.

Sip slowly, as these can be addicting.

Pumpkin Pie

This delicious creamy frozen treat tastes just like the real thing but with a kick. Top with or without whipped cream depending on how badly you would like to be hungover.

You need:

  • Pumpkin puree
  • Pumpkin pie spice creamer
  • Whipped cream vodka
  • Marshmallow Fluff
  • Graham Cracker

What to do:

Dip rim of shot glass into marshmallow fluff then dip in graham cracker crumbs. Blend other ingredients into a blender with ice until smooth. Pour into garnished shot glasses.

Caramel Apple Shot

I could not stop drinking these at a Halloween party I was at. I might have woken up covered in Taco Bell shame, but it was well worth it while they were going down.

You need:

  • Butterscotch Schnapps
  • Apple Schnapps
  • White Chocolate Liqueur

What to do:

Combine 6oz. of butterscotch schnapps with 2oz. of apple and 2oz. of white chocolate. Fill cocktail shaker with ingredients and ice blend and enjoy. Garnish will a thinly sliced apple or caramel drizzle.

Cranberry Sour Cream Jell-O Shot

Full disclosure, you may just end up licking off the sour cream topping on these Jell-O shots … because it’s that good. If you are looking to get sauced though, you will want to have the Jell-O shot too. If you do not like the idea of sour cream topping you can roll cranberries in sugar and garnish them that way.

What you need:

  • Cranberry Jell-O
  • Vodka
  • Water

For sour cream topping:

Sour cream and brown sugar

For sweet cranberries:

Sugar and cranberries

What to do:

Prepare Jell-O as written on the package, but before you let it set, add your preferred amount of vodka then chill. Blend half a cup of sour cream with 4 teaspoons of heated brown sugar. Cover and chill for at least two hours. If you are going the sweet cranberry route, then wash your cranberries, pat them dry, but leave them slightly wet to roll in the sugar. Then. garnish and enjoy.

New York Cheesecake

Half of my family is Italian, so this is always on the table post-turkey. This shot tastes just like the real thing and makes it easier to handle all of the Italian screaming.

What you need:

  • Vanilla Vodka
  • Whipped Cream Vodka
  • Strawberries

What to do:

Shake both types of vodka together with ice. Garnish with fresh strawberries, if desired.

Red Velvet

If you are a wine lover, this cocktail is for you.

What you need:

  • Champagne or sparkling wine
  • Raspberries
  • Birthday Cake Vodka

What to do:

Combine champagne or sparkling wine with vodka. Make sure the ratio is mostly wine and only a small amount of vodka. For example, 4oz. of wine for every 2oz. of vodka. Crush raspberries, stir in alcohol and garnish rim of glasses with store bought cream cheese frosting and red velvet cake crumbs.

Peppermint Chocolate

For those who like to treat Thanksgiving as pre-Christmas (my mother) this shot is for you.

What you need:

  • Marshmallow sundae topping
  • Vanilla Vodka
  • Crushed peppermint candies
  • Peppermint Schnapps

What to do:

Coat the rim of the glass in marshmallow topping and crushed peppermints. Shake ice, vodka and schnapps together until blended, pour in glass and garnish with candy.

I hope you have a great holiday and that these cocktails are the perfect addition to your Thanksgiving meal.
