It’s time to whip out the plastic, everyone’s favorite “for-profit” retailer has decided to expand their product mix. TOMS, the company that donates a pair of shoes for every one they sell, has now opened an online Marketplace to sell other socially conscious merchandise in hopes of using its trusted name to boost social entrepreneurship.

Just in time for the holiday season, the new online only shopping destination features over 200 products from 30 different brands, ranging anywhere from homewares to handbags. The privately held brand, founded in 2006, spent the past year configuring the website, and ultimately choosing 30 different companies to work with. Prices ranging from $5 to $500.

“The TOMS Marketplace represents something that is bigger than us,” Blake Mycoskie, the founder of TOMS , said in a press release. “We believe social entrepreneurship is a movement that is here to stay, and the TOMS Marketplace is our way of bringing awareness to so many amazing companies, causes and products.”

The Marketplace highlights early-stage companies and their causes, each of whom were extensively evaluated by the TOMS Giving department to make sure they had the ability to deliver on their mission statements, said the company. Each company’s listing on the website includes a meaningful story, spanning a wide range of geographic areas of impact and social causes. The website allows every shopper to browse based on cause, brand, and/or region.

The continuous success of the company’s “One for One” business model has led to a continued evolution of its giving efforts. Not only has TOMS made major investments in shoe manufacturing all over the world, the company has also invested in economic empowerment and commissioned field research, as well as product partnerships that have raised millions of dollars for various nonprofit organizations. The marketplace is the companies latest in such investments.

Humbled by the number of social entrepreneurs who were, and are continually being inspired by TOMS, Mycoskie thought “What can we do to help support these companies?” The TOMS Marketplace is the result.
