On July 15, Steven Tyler of Aerosmith released a solo country album featuring 15 tracks with various rock and country influences. The title track “We’re All Somebody From Somewhere” is set to launch as the album’s second single to country radio and has a similar feel to Cage the Elephant’s “Ain’t No Rest For The Wicked,” the similarities may bring a wider audience to Tyler’s target of country music fans.

The former American Idol judge’s country project is not a guaranteed hit, but the odds are in his favor as he roped together some of the best writers in Nashville, including The Cadillac Three’s front man and hit songwriter Jaren Johnston.

Perhaps the highlight of the album is Tyler’s rendition of his Aerosmith hit “Janie’s Got A Gun.” He channels his inner blues and performs a powerful version of this song that fans might not have ever heard.

As a whole, this album is not really rock, but it is not very country either. It has everything from uptempo to ballads and overall, it is a super easy listen. If you are looking for something to relax with, We’re All Somebody From Somewhere is right up your alley.
